Chris is a CrossFit Level 1 Certified Trainer. He began CrossFit approximately 3 years ago and never turned back. Prior to the CrossFit introduction, Chris was a member of The United States Marine Corps Reserves from 2003-2011 and spent one tour in Iraq. He attributes much of his attitude towards life and health to the virtues instilled in him during his time in the Marines. A graduate from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelors degree of Computer Science and Industrial Technology, Chris currently works for Flowserve as an Applications Engineer along with his time spent at the Box coaching classes. Originally from Baton Rouge and Catholic High graduate, where he pole vaulted competitively, Chris currently resides in Prairieville and is married to his wonderful wife Ashley, also a member of CrossFit Virtus, and father to his 19 month old angel in heaven Cade Michael Brown. He is easy to spot at the box, always full of life with a smile on his face waiting to greet you, probably singing!!
A message from Chris:
It’s safe to say CrossFit has impacted my life in a way I never once would have imagined. After the loss of our son the CrossFit community and CrossFit Virtus family were a huge reason for our ability to keep going. I tell people often that it’s not like any other gym you may go to, and I am so happy for that. It is a place filled with individuals looking to better themselves as well as those around them. It’s a place you give high fives and get hugs, show smiles, and shed tears. It is a place where lifelong friends are made and motivation and inspiration are knocking down the doors. It is a place that builds strong bodies but even stronger minds!
When new clients come to us, it can often be overwhelming. I make a point to tell them not to judge their CrossFit experience on the first week; give it a month, and I promise you will love it and the people around you. Remember, the minute you step through the doors you have made a choice so many others have failed to do; to be the best you, you can be!!
