Cecil is the head coach and owner of CrossFit Virtus. He is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer. Cecil is married to Sara Piazza and has two children, Sophia and Celia. Cecil holds a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Fitness Studies from Louisiana State University and a Bachelors of Science in Nuclear Medicine Technology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Cecil began early in his training as a Physical Therapy Technician and has worked in a variety of rehabilitative settings from 1994 to 2001. Upon completing his Nuclear Medicine degree, Cecil worked as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist conducting diagnostic imaging for patients presented with cardiac dysfunction. Exposure in both of these settings has given Cecil the motivation to lead a career that focuses on “preventive maintenance”.
Cecil has also achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and has served over 27 years in the US Army (National Guard & Army Reserves). He has completed two tours of duty in the Middle East and to East Africa, encompassing a broad range of leadership roles and responsibilities. It was in 2009, during Air Assault training that he was first exposed to CrossFit. During his 2010 deployment to Iraq, Cecil began coaching and mentoring others in CrossFit. The intensity of the program and the practical application of the movements has also enabled Cecil to achieve a much higher level of fitness.

CrossFit has become much more than a fitness program for me and my family. It is a way of sharing challenges and triumph with like-minded people. Many define CrossFit as a ”journey”, “cult”, “way of life”…I think the definition is relevant to the goals that the individual sets for himself or herself. I have found that no matter what your goal, definition or purpose for doing CrossFit may be, self-discipline and motivation will yield unending results. I will give you ALL of the tools necessary to be successful…it is up to you to use them. Virtus Invicta!
