Jodi Sheets

BIO:

Jodi Sheets started CrossFit in May 2012 after seeing the CrossFit games on ESPN.  She was completely intrigued the minute she witnessed the physical fitness that the athletes exhibited and had to find out what this program was about and how she could learn to do all of that fun stuff. After googling CrossFit in Ascension Parish she found two locations and began her journey.  After one WOD with Cecil Piazza at CrossFit Virtus, that was all she wrote.  She competed in her first competition in October 2012 at the Deep South Shootout and had a blast, as she is just a little competitive.  With her background in group fitness and personal training, she knew that she had to get more involved in this incredible program and went to get her CrossFit Level 1 certificate in February 2013 and most recently her CrossFit Level 2 certificate in September 2018.  Exercising is a hobby for Jodi, but coaching is a passion.  There is nothing more satisfying for a coach, than to witness someone accomplish something that they never believed they could accomplish.

Jodi was born and raised in Ascension Parish.  She graduated from East Ascension High School and Southeastern Louisiana University where she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing.  She has been nursing since December of 1995 and has been a nurse for the Ascension Parish School Board since 1999.  Jodi became the President of the Louisiana School Nurse Organization in March of 2018.  She also became a Nationally Certified School Nurse in November of 2018.  She has been married to Cade Sheets, yes, Cade’s Frozen Custard, and yes, that does seem a little strange to most people that she owns an ice cream shop, since 1996.  She has three beautiful girls that are all very involved athletes: soccer, softball and basketball.

A message from Jodi:

CrossFit has changed my entire outlook on health and fitness. I have exercised my entire life. I danced until I graduated from high school. I started working out in a gym when I was sixteen. I’ve done many different types of exercise, including: group fitness classes (step aerobics, kickboxing, spin classes, MMA training), weightlifting, adventure racing, running and biking. All things that I truly enjoyed, or at least I thought I did, until I found CrossFit. CrossFit is the most challenging and rewarding program I have ever been involved in. The community is unlike anything I have ever experienced besides my immediate family. The overwhelming support that is found in every box I have ever visited is beyond what words can express. I have certainly found a new passion that I crave daily. If I could package it up in a jar and keep it with me all of the time I would. The continuous encouragement that is given and received gives me a sense of belonging and acceptance. As a “Masters” CrossFitter, I can honestly say that I am physically and mentally in the best shape of my life and am so grateful to have found my CrossFit family. I would like to give a special Thank You to Cecil and Sara Piazza for allowing me the honor and privilege to be a part of the CrossFit Virtus team.
