Evidently, there is no real good sub for pullups other than doing assisted pullups (bands or partner). But the inclined ring rows are what we have been using for beginners. Of course a gravitron would be great but we seem to be lacking in gravitrons.

The tears in my hands are healing over and dont want to rip them again so soon. Maybe kbs or jump rope will work.
